Days of Knights 2nd. Edition - FAQs

What is the difference between a group and a battle? What units can Marshals lead/influence?

In short, a battle is a big group (consisting of at least 20% of ecus value) in the King/General's command. They are set up as groups at the beginning of the game. Under the basic rules, units in the King/General's command can move between battles, and a Marshal can lead/influence any group in the King General's command. A Marshal can lead/influence more units than an Allied Lord or Mercenary Captain. A Captain bought by the King/General or a Marshal can lead any unit in the King/General's command.

In the optional rules, you can have the Marshals act more independently with each of them having their own command, and not able to lead/influence any units except in their battle. If this rule is used, a Captain bought by a Marshal can only lead a unit in his battle.

If the Marshal is executed, then his entire command reverts to the King/General's command.
